Alwin Li

Crescent School
Mini Bio:
"Going to bridge club for a whole semester and still not knowing how to bid" is one of Alwin's memorable moments from high school. Alwin, 18, who placed fourth in the '97 OBC, attended Crescent School in Willowdale, where he was voted (twice) as the MVP for his badminton team. (Stuart Cumner's biology students from Crescent have finished in the top 10 schools in the OBC in each of its first three years.) Alwin placed in the top 100 in the U of T's first annual Leonardo da Vinci Competition, a national engineering aptitude test which offers cash prizes and scholarships. He also placed in the top 75 in Waterloo's chemistry and physics contests. Alwin, who declined an offer to attend Columbia University in New York, is pursuing a B.Sc. degree in either immunology or pharmacology at the U of T and hopes to become a medical doctor, specializing in dermatology. In his spare time Alwin enjoys reading, watching movies, swimming, and playing sports.
