Anton Dobrin

Northern Secondary School
Mini Bio:
Anton Dobrin was unlike most students in regards to deciding what field he wished to enter into. He had chosen Molecular Biology/Biotechnology while still in Grade 7, and this made choosing a high school and university much easier. Anton participated in multiple science fairs, and ran a Sanofi-Aventis Biotalent Project in Grade 11 while doing research as a co-op student at the Rose Lab at UHN. He graduated as an Ontario Scholar and University of Toronto Scholar, having earned a Queen Elizabeth II "Aiming for the Top" Scholarship, a double Business Certificate, a Gifted Certificate, a number of subject awards and a National Biology Scholarship. Today, Anton has a strong interest in synthetic biology. Realizing that nature has had over 3.9 billion years to experiment and test various solutions to a range of problems, he feels these tried-and-true efforts of nature can be much more effective than those that humans have developed with in the past ten thousand years.
