Mini Bio: 
Sharmi, 19, graduated "top of the class" from Jarvis Collegiate Institute, Toronto, in June 2001, with a 99% average in OAC, and received the Governor General's Award. At Jarvis, Sharmi was editor and a columnist for the school newspaper and vice-president of the school's multicultural club, organizing charity shows, food drives, field trips, and a "huge cultural show that presents the music, folk dances, and dramas from different countries around the world." Sharmi, who tied for eighth in the 2000 biology competition (while in her second last year of high school), enrolled in life sciences at Victoria College at U of T in September 2001. She plans to specialize in Laboratory Medicine or Human Biology, with aspirations for a career in medicine.
